Holzberger graduates

Jessica Marie Holzberger, daughter of Sheila and Charlie Holzberger of Lexington Park, received her bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park.

Entering the university with 43 advanced placement credits, she was able to graduate in three years. She will now pursue a master’s degree in public policy at the university, which she hopes to receive in May 2009.

While at Maryland, she was a member of three honor societies; most notably, the Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society. She was also a Dean’s Academic Scholar, which is the highest honor the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences confers on graduating seniors. She graduated summa cum laude, with a 4.0 GPA throughout all three years.

She earned the University Honors citation.

Holzberger was selected to act as a senior marshal at graduation for her outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the university.

She is working as part of a special summer program for the federal government.

Senese earns degree

Dean and Pipkinearn diplomas

Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa., awarded diplomas to some 400 students during its 139th annual Commencement ceremony recently. Graduates included Erin D. Dean of California, who earned a bachelor of science in music education and music, magna cum laude, and as a member of the Phi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society; and M. Andrew Pipkin of Hollywood, who earned a bachelor of science degree in health science, cum laude.

Riley inducted

Sharon Kay Riley of Mechanicsville was inducted into the Beta Delta Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at College of Southern Maryland on Dec. 20, 2007.

Riley, who is majoring in health-related professions, is the daughter of John and Patricia Hollenback of Mooresville, N.C., and is married to Capt. Stephen G Riley III of Mechanicsville .

Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges around the world. Students must rank in the top 20 percent of the class to be invited to membership and must maintain high academic standing during their enrollment in college.

Lukasik honored

The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland has announced that Richard Lukasik was named to the spring 2008 distinguished dean’s list of outstanding students.

He is the son of Richard and Wanda Lukasik, and brother of Emily, of Hollywood. He was a 2005 graduate of Great Mills High School.

Clark graduatesfrom Boston University

Boston University awarded academic degrees to 5,760 students in May 2008. Among the graduates was Sam A. Clark of Lexington Park, who received a master of science in business administration and management.

Mora wins scholarship

Allison Mora, daughter of Tommy Mora of California, is a recipient of a $1,500 college scholarship awarded at Patuxent River Naval Air Station as part of the annual Scholarships for Military Children Program.

Mora plans to attend University of Maryland. Her school and community activities include National Honor Society secretary, Special Olympics volunteer, Sunday school teacher, field hockey and lacrosse and hospital volunteer.

Rardin in honor society

Heather Rardin of Leonardtown and a graduate of St. Mary’s Ryken High School is a member of the Lycoming College’s chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa, the international honors society that recognizes students for scholastic achievement in religion studies and theology. Rardin is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in archaeology and culture of the ancient Near East.

Lycoming College is located in Williamsport, Pa.
