Fourth of July celebration and watermelon bash will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. July 4 at La Plata Town Hall, 305 Queen Anne St., La Plata. Watermelon bash will feature free watermelon slices, a watermelon eating contest, a watermelon roll for kids 5 and younger and a watermelon toss. Sons of the American Revolution Thomas Stone chapter will hold an event honoring Stone at 10 a.m. July 4 at Habre de Venture, Port Tobacco. SAR Color Guard, Daughters of the American Revolution and Children of the American Revolution will participate in a wreath-laying.
