Shaw named to dean’s list at Embry-Riddle
Amanda Rae Shaw, the daughter of Denise and Ken Shaw of Bryantown, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Shaw, an engineering physics major and math minor, is a 2005 graduate of La Plata High School. She is a member of Alpha Xi Delta, serving as chapter life vice president. During 2007, Shaw completed a study abroad session to Barcelona, Spain, also visiting Amsterdam, Netherlands, England and Scotland.
She is the recipient of the George H. Ebbs Jr. and the James B. Robinson scholarships at Embry-Riddle.
Gray excels at Towson
Mary Gray, of Charlotte Hall, was named to the dean’s list at Towson University for the second consecutive semester in the spring.
Students named to dean’s list at Tech
Courtney M. Hatton of Hughesville; Lindsey K. Bachand, Kevin R. Loyer, Anne E. Swartzwelder and Matthew R. Szoch, all of La Plata; Austin T. Wray of Newburg; and Benjamin L. Hastings and Joanne Siviter, both of Port Tobacco, were named to the dean’s list at Virginia Tech for the spring semester.
Folmsbees excel atUniversity of Oklahoma
Christopher Kenneth Folmsbee and Eric Glenn Folmsbee, both of Waldorf, were named to the president’s honor roll for the spring semester at the University of Oklahoma Norman Campus in Norman, Okla.
Both achieved a 4.0 GPA.
DeVane receives degree
Steven J. DeVane of Nanjemoy graduated cum laude from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on May 21 with a doctor of pharmacy degree.
He served as president of Rho Chi National Honor Society of Pharmacy, president of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and president and vice president of Phi Kappa Psi.
He was also a member of the American Pharmacists Association and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
DeVane is the son of James and Barbara DeVane.
Way achievesdean’s list
Elizabeth Ruth Way of Indian Head was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Delaware. She is a senior history and apparel design major.
Students graduate from Virginia Tech
The following Charles County residents graduated from Virginia Tech May 9:
Megan Degnan of Waldorf, with a bachelor of science degree in apparel, housing, and resource management from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Kevin Loyer of La Plata, with a bachelor of science degree in ocean engineering from the College of Engineering.
Joanne Siviter of Port Tobacco, with a bachelor of science degree in psychology from the College of Science.
Leslie Morris of White Plains, with a bachelor of science degree magna cum laude in civil engineering from the College of Engineering.
Gross on dean’slist at VMI
Arthur S. Gross Jr., a rising sophomore from Waldorf, is among the 461 Virginia Military Institute cadets who were recently named to the deans’ list for the second semester of academic year 2007-2008.
Gross is majoring in biology. He is the son of Michelle Gross.
Students honoredat Barton College
Brittany Kay Grace and Jessica Ann Miller, both of Waldorf, were named to the dean’s list at Barton College in Wilson, N.C., for the spring semester.
Dean’s list students achieved a grade point average of 3.3 or better on a four-point scale.
Fini namedto dean’s list
Andrew W. Fini of La Plata was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
Fini is a sophomore architecture major.
The dean’s list consists of full-time students who maintain a grade point average of a 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale and have no grades below C.
