John Marvin Hawkins, 42, Mechanicsville

Born March 24, 1967, in Maryland, he was the son of John Francis and Doretheria Viola Hawkins.

He worked as a pharmacy technician for many years at ASCO Pharmacy, Technicare Pharmaceuticals, Pharmerica, and was branch manager for the Subway sub shop for Burch Oil Co.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy L. Edelen; and his grandparents, George and Theresa Hawkins and Dorsey Edelen.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by six sisters; six brothers; a grandmother, Olivia Johnson, a missionary; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends today, Feb. 3, from 9 to 10 a.m. at House of Prayer Church of God in Capitol Heights, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Queen of Peace Cemetery in Helen. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Adams Funeral Home in Aquasco.
