St. Mary's County Library provides all county residents with library services at the following locations:

Hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sundays, only the Lexington Park branch is open from 1 to 5 p.m.
WoW! van service
The WoW! van service, Words on Wheels, visits child care providers and centers providing age-appropriate materials and story times. For information, call 301-475-2846, ext. 1011, or stma.outreach@stmalib.org.
Internet services
The Internet branch www.stmalib.org allows customers to use their library anytime, day or night, from any Internet access.
Cardholders can access the library catalog, online databases (magazine articles and reference resources previously in print), AskUsNow! Virtual Reference service, and downloadable audio books and movies. They can request items, check their accounts and renew items. Residents who do not have a library card can apply for one online.
Technology
All branches provide public access computers equipped with various software packages, high-speed Internet access, Wi-Fi and wireless equipped laptops.
Each branch has child-friendly computers with educational software. Computers classes for all ages are offered.
Materials to check out
The library maintains a wide collection of more than 200,000 items, including large-print editions, audio books, DVDs, magazines and newspapers, musical recordings and Playaways, audio books small enough to fit in the palm of a hand.
Books not found in a branch can be borrowed from other libraries across the state through an interlibrary loan service.
Programs
The library offers an extensive series of story hours and children's programs throughout the year. During the summer, reading programs and a series of professional performances are available. Adult programs including monthly book discussions are offered throughout the year. More information can be found by calling the library or at www.stmalib.org.
Staff
Courteous, informed and committed staff are available to provide customer service in person, by phone or by e-mail.
Friends of the Library is a support organization for the library system and sponsors a book sale annually to raise money for the libraries.
