William R. Buckmaster, 85, Owings

He was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Chesapeake Beach, the son of Morris I. and Edith Pearl (Brady) Buckmaster.

He married Hilda Mae Marquess on Nov. 16, 1951, in Lower Marlboro.

He was a carpenter and painter for many years and later was a Calvert County animal warden until retiring 20 years ago.

He enjoyed baseball, playing first base and later coaching both softball and hardball. He also enjoyed fox hunting and had dogs for many years.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James E., Charles M. and Robert S. Buckmaster.

He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Hilda Mae Buckmaster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends were received on June 29 at Rausch Funeral Home in Owings. Services were held June 30. Interment followed at Mt. Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Sandra S.W. Taylor officiated.

Pallbearers were Douglas King, Dennis King, Timmy Marquess, Eddie Buckmaster, David Buckmaster, Grady Buckmaster, and Junebug King.

Honorary pallbearers were Rusty King, Richie King, Robert King, Renee King Powers, Diana Gott and Kylie Buckmaster.
