Disappointed in the ballpark

In regards to the letter about the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs [‘‘Quit complaining. Go see a ballgame,” Maryland Independent, July 4], I thoroughly agree that everyone interested in baseball in Charles County should support the team. However that is difficult to do when one can only enjoy the entire game from selected seats.
We were so glad when the stadium opened that we made sure we attended the opening weekend games and some thereafter. When the statement was made from the article that ‘‘there is not a bad seat anywhere” obviously they have not sat everywhere.
We have had seats in sections 1 through 5 and all seats we sat in were blocked from part of right field. When the ball goes in that direction, you watch for the reaction of the people in the left-field seats to know whether or not the ball was caught. In some of these seats you are also blocked from seeing the video board due to its placement in right field.
When seated on the lawn in the general admission section, you’re too far away to really enjoy the game and everyone around you is socializing and⁄or running around. That is a perfect area for kids to play, which is great provided you don’t want to watch the game. I don’t understand why anyone would design and build a stadium that contains seats with limited viewing.
My family is very much into baseball, my son plays and we enjoy going to see the Orioles, Nationals and Bowie BaySox.
My son belongs to all their kids clubs, including the Blue Crabs’. But he has not yet received everything promised from the Blue Crab organization. Therefore with all this being said, we are very disappointed with the design of Regency Furniture Stadium and the management of the team.
Maybe they could do some renovating to make it possible for everyone to enjoy and see the entire game. And I’m sure with time and experience, the organization will improve and deliver on their promises. Maybe then we’ll see the seats filled for all games.
