The 35th annual Governor Cup Yacht Race ends with a post-race party on Aug. 2 at St. Mary’s College

The 35th annual St. Mary’s College Governor’s Cup Yacht Race begins at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at the entrance to Annapolis Harbor and ends Aug. 2 on the shores of the college in St. Mary’s City, where there will be awards and a party.
The race is the oldest and longest overnight competition on the bay. The schooner Adventurer will be start boat in Annapolis. Maryland Dove, a replica of a 17th-century square-rigger from St. Mary’s City, will be the finish boat. The post-race party includes island music by Nautical Wheelers as well as the rock band Joe Bachman and the Crew.
The race’s eight yacht classes for scoring are Multihull, PHRF A-0, PHRF A-1, PHRF A-2, PHRF B, PHRF C⁄D and PHRF N.
St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s dinghy sailing team has won 13 national championships and produced more than 100 collegiate All-America sailors since 1991.
