Our county has been deeply saddened and shocked to learn of the sudden loss of a truly wonderful man, Paul C. Leibe, 60 of Lexington Park who passed away at his residence.

Paul was an excellent reporter and photographer for The Enterprise for more than 20 years. I had the pleasure of knowing Paul during those years, and he was a true friend. Whenever I saw him, we would engage in a long conversation. He was a people person and wrote excellent stories for The Enterprise.

I could go on and on, but I will stop here and say that we will miss you, Paul.

Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife of nearly 19 years, Susan Leibe; his sisters; other family members; his many friends; and his family at The Enterprise.

Congratulations to J.J. Raley and his teammates on the Baltimore Bays for coming home on July 19 from Los Angeles after 10 days of competition and then winning the national championship for the U-18 Class in soccer.

This is the second time J.J., the son of Mike and Lorie Raley and the grandson of Judy Raley and Mary Jane Alvey, will be joining the soccer team in Providence, R.I.

Come out and on Aug.10 between noon and 5 p.m. to the hall of the Ridge Knights of Columbus and enjoy their delicious fried chicken dinner for only $8. The dinner will consist of half of a chicken, potatoes, a vegetable, cole slaw, pickle, rolls and butter. There will also be baked goods and a 50⁄50 raffle.

The hall is located at the intersection of routes 5 and 235 in Ridge. I will see you there.

Continued get-well wishes are extended to Roselee Wathen, lovingly known as ‘‘Dolly” to her many students of Margaret Brent High School (1930 to 1950). Ms. Wathan, 97 years young, is recovering in a rehab center after a recent gallbladder surgery and plans to return to her home very soon.

She would love to receive mail from her friends here in the area and is looking forward to returning home to her independent life. We pray she will be able to do that very soon. You may to send cards and notes to Ms. Rosalee Wathen, c⁄o Genesis Waldorf Health Care, 4140 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD 20602.

Happy belated birthday to Joseph ‘‘Guy” Tippett. Guy, I hope your day was special and I wish you many, many more.
