Above, St. Mary’s College of Maryland alumnus Vanessa Vizcarrondo of Royal Oak finishes an oil painting of the dozens of boats docked Saturday afternoon in the St. Mary’s River after the Governor’s Cup Yacht Race. Among the highlights of the race from Annapolis were the first-place class finish of the Meridian, crewed by St. Mary’s College students and alumni, and the U.S. Naval Academy’s Zaraffa, which ran aground near Point Lookout but still managed to be the first boat to cross the finish line.
