Shooting suspect nabbed
On July 30, Charles County sheriff’s detectives charged Christopher Scott Sellitto, 21, of no fixed address, with attempted second-degree murder in connection with the July 19 shooting of two men on Kent Avenue in La Plata.
Investigators from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office major crimes unit had information that Sellitto would be at the Addison Road Metro station in Prince George’s County.
They contacted Metro Transit police, who located Sellitto and arrested him.
Sellitto was taken to the Charles County jail in La Plata and held on $100,000 bond.

Officer finds crack, pills in car
A sheriff’s officer pulled over a car near Chapman’s Landing Road and Route 210 in Indian Head after seeing a traffic violation at 1:48 a.m. July 30.
The driver, Theresa Ann Edwards, 44, of Waldorf, had a suspended driver’s license, police said.
The officer found crack cocaine, illegally obtained prescription pills and drug paraphernalia inside her car, police reported.
Edwards was charged with drug possession.

Nanjemoy woman charged with assault
A Nanjemoy woman was charged with first-degree assault after striking someone on the head with a board July 30, according to police reports.
Sheriff’s officers responded to the 11600 block of Jovita Jesse Place in Nanjemoy at 9:34 p.m. for the report of an assault.
The victim and his brother had been fighting when Delores Angela Debley, 41, of Nanjemoy struck him with the board, police reported.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated.
Debley was charged with first-degree assault.
Officer M. Bourgeois investigated.
Stolen car recovered; four arrested
Sheriff’s detectives assigned to the auto theft unit and the Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement Team pulled over a car on Mattawoman Beantown Road at 8:52 p.m. July 29 after finding it had stolen tags.
A computer check of the car’s identification number confirmed it had been reported stolen, police reported.
The occupants of the car, three girls from Waldorf and an 18-year-old woman from Waldorf, were arrested and charged with theft over $500 and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Indian Head man charged with car break-in
At 1:15 p.m. July 29, sheriff’s officers responded to the 3000 block of Wildflower Street in La Plata to assist the La Plata Police with arresting a man wanted in connection with violating a protective order.
Leonard Darnell Mackell, 18, of Indian Head broke into the car of a former girlfriend but ran away when she called police, according to a police report.
Officers searched the area and found Mackell hiding inside a home. The officers arrested Mackell as he tried to escape.
He was charged with breaking and entering and violation of a protective order.
La Plata officer Hitaffer and sheriff’s officers M. DePaulo, N. Beswick, C. Smith and Sgts. M. Harmon and L. Schmidt made the apprehension.
Two robbedin Waldorf
A report of an armed robbery near Dorchester Circle and Sailfish Court in Waldorf reached sheriff’s officers at 9:20 p.m. July 28.
The victim and a friend were approached by two men who demanded money, police reported.
The victims gave the men money, and the assailants fled in a white, older model vehicle.
The victims, who were not injured, called police.
The robbers are described as black men in a police report.
One man is between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 160 pounds and has short dreadlocks.
The other man is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 185 pounds and has shoulder-length dreadlocks.
Waldorf restaurant employee robbed
Two people held up an employee of a Waldorf carryout restaurant as he was leaving to make a bank deposit Aug. 2. Sheriff’s officers responded to the 3200 block of Crain Highway at 10:30 a.m. for the report of a robbery.
As the employee was leaving the business, the two assailants sprayed him in the face with a chemical self-defense spray and stole the money he was carrying, police reported.
The assailants fled in a vehicle, and the victim called police.
Police described one of the assailants as a black man in his mid-20s.
He is between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build.
The second assailant was a black woman in her 20s. She is between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with a heavy build.
She was wearing a T-shirt with ‘‘I Love DC” on it and dark pants with faded hearts on the legs.
Detective G. Higgs is investigating.
Two assaultedin Waldorf
A report of a citizen robbery at the 2500 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf reached sheriff’s officers at 1:50 a.m. Aug. 1.
The victim reported that he and a friend were approached by three people who demanded money.
The victim resisted, and the assailants struck him, cutting the back of his head.
The assailants fled, and the injured victim was transported to a hospital.
Police investigating Waldorf assault
Two people stole money from a victim on the 7000 block of Red Squirrel Place in Waldorf at about 4:25 p.m. July 31. Sheriff’s officers responded to the area for the report of a fight. After the assailants took the money, they fled in red Lincoln Mercury, police reported.
