Arlene Saluter, teeing off, was the lowest net score winner at the Gus Turner Memorial Tournament held by the White Plains Senior Golf Fellowship on July 29.

The tournament recognizes Gus Turner, a long-time resident of Charles County. Turner was instrumental in organizing the White Plains Senior Golf Fellowship.
This group of golfers has enjoyed playing golf at White Plains since the early 1980s and has now grown to 70 members.
Most members live nearby in Charles County and play golf in the league every Tuesday and many of them also play an additional three to five days a week at White Plains.
The fellowship plays from April through the second week in October each year and welcomes men and women ages 50 and older. It plays a variety of serious and curious games, including best ball, Chicago and hero, but the emphasis is on enjoying the game and the fellowship of others.
The winners were:
Lowest net score: Arlene Saluter
Lowest gross score: Earl Foote
Best shot winners
Long drive: Don Dalzell (70 and over); Ron Workman (Under 70)
Closest to red line: Henry Watson (Hole No. 16)
Closest to pin: Henry Watson (No. 2), Al Yurek (No. 6), Jerry Dorrance (No. 13), Buck Cave (No. 17)
