Mildred Ball Beall, 93, of Lothian died Aug. 18, 2008, at her residence.
She was born May 29, 1915, in Jewell to the late James Joshua and Sarah Turner Paddy.
She attended the former Traceys School and married Louis Ball on Jan. 20, 1940, in Collington. They lived in Mitchelville and later Galesville, where they raised their family. Mr. Ball died June 12, 1960, and she married Aloysius J. ‘‘Allie” Beall in 1963 and they moved to Lothian several years later. Mr. Beall died Dec. 28, 1992.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Lothian. She was active in the Women’s Society at Mt. Zion and also worked at church suppers. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, canning and entertaining.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Mary Smith; sisters, Alice Ruth Ridgley, Jean Nichols and Esther Edelen; and brothers, James Wilbur Paddy and Russell ‘‘Duck” Paddy.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Ball Bloom of Lothian; son, Gerald L. ‘‘Jerry” Ball of Lothian; brothers, Warren Paddy of Lothian, Franklin ‘‘Shug” Paddy of Harwood and Carl Paddy of Stevensenville; two grandchildren, Jeffrey W. Bloom of Laurel and April D. Evans of Baltimore; and two great-grandchildren, Megan and Emily Evans.
Funeral services were held Aug. 23 at the Rausch Funeral Home in Owings.
Interment followed at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Lothian.
The Rev. Mildred Holliday officiated.
Pallbearers were Michael Paddy, Jimmy Paddy, Jamey Wells, Joey Wells, Gary Ward and Danny Ward.
