Hazel Theresa Dyson Knott, 79, of Callaway died Aug. 19, 2008, at Washington Hospital Center.
She was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Great Mills to the late Samuel and Florence Anne Aud Dyson.
She was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County and was a homemaker who loved to paint pictures and work in the garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Irving Knott Sr., and her sons, Michael and Joey Knott.
She is survived by her children, Joan Adams of Valley Lee, Bubby Knott of Great Mills, Anne Lumpkins of Piney Point, Mary Rita Archer, Susan Wise Mary Knott and Julie Reece, all of Callaway; siblings, Elmer Dyson and Evangeline Tolson, both of Waldorf, Mary Ruth Shepherd of Park Hall, LeRoy Dyson and Joseph Dyson, both of Great Mills and Adele Korpolinski of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Family received friends Aug. 21 at Holy Face Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian burial was held Aug. 22 at the church.
The Rev. Joseph Sileo officiated.
Interment followed at Holy Face Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Archer, Brian Knott, Joe Meisowitz, David Adams, Charlie Wise and Johnny Heard.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Spencer, Eddie Culliison, Chris Knott, Alan Gray, Martin Seibert and Michael Oliver.
Memorial contributions can be made to Ladies of Charity at Holy Face Catholic Church, 20476 Point Lookout Road, Great Mills, MD 20634.
