Robert Warren Wells, 83, Broomes Island

Robert Warren Wells, 83, of Broomes Island died Aug. 20, 2008, at Georgetown University Hospital.

He was born March 24, 1925, in Washington, D.C., to the late Benjamin and Charity Comer Freeman Steed.

He served in the Army during World War II, being stationed in England, Manila and Northern France from 1943 to 1946. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Ribbon. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Seat Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Frances Wells; children, Sheryl Wells-Lynch and Steven Michael Wells and his wife Janet; grandchildren, Brendan Lynch, Meghan Shaver and her husband Jeff, Jessica Natalie and her husband Brian, and Jared Wells; and great-grandson, Dylan Shaver.

Memorial service was held Aug. 24 at Christ Episcopal Church in Port Republic.

Interment was private.
