St. Charles Bears still undefeated

The 70-pound St. Charles Bears are going on its third season as an undefeated team as they took on the Southern Maryland Hawks on Oct. 24, winning 19-12 and taking their record to 8-0.

Quarterback Mitchell Lewis and halfbacks Chris Wood and Corey Bernard all scored for the Bears, while the defensive linemen did a great job of holding the line for the Bears.

"This was the only time we'll play each other this year, so it was a big win for us," Bears head coach Todd Edelen said. "Our offensive lineman did a great job for us. It was strong on both sides of the ball. It could have gone either way; with two strong teams like this, we knew it was going to be tough. We want to keep this continuity up and we tell them to take it one game at a time."

This is the first time any team has scored on the Bears.

The Bears will take on the Indian Head Braves at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in White Plains.
