Michael Marshall, senior analyst, and Gilda McFarland, executive assistant to the CEO, have joined the Energetics Technology Center.

Marshall has worked in the U.S. Navy laboratory community throughout his career. After retiring as a Navy civilian employee in 2000, he joined the staff of the Applied Research Laboratory at Pennsylvania State University as an assistant to the director. From 2001 to 2005 he supported the Office of Naval Research.

Since that time, he has worked as a senior analyst and consultant for IKTARA & Associates and Science Applications International Corp. He is currently a senior analyst at the ETC.

McFarland comes to ETC with more than 25 years of experience as an administrative coordinator. Prior to joining ETC, McFarland was an executive assistant with SAIC, where she was responsible for supporting human resources, maintaining various databases, coordinating conferences and events, and maintaining and updating internal Web sites.

At ETC, McFarland will be responsible for personnel management, recruiting and hiring, developing and distributing internal and external corporate communications, and assisting with planning workshops and seminars.

"I am delighted to welcome both Mike and Gilda to the Energetics Technology Center," said Bob Kavetsky, CEO for the center, in a press release. "Both of them bring extensive experience in their respective fields and will help our organization immensely."

Marshall is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he received a bachelor of science degree with honors and a master of science degree, both in physics. He also holds a J.D. in law from the University of Maryland School of Law, and has been a member of the Maryland Bar since 1977.

McFarland received her associate of arts degree in criminal justice from the University of Phoenix. She is currently pursuing a bachelor of science degree in information technology-multimedia and visual communications. She is also an expert-level, certified Microsoft Office user specialist.

ETC is a private, nonprofit enterprise dedicated to growing science and technology in Southern Maryland. The center is based in La Plata.
