Woman injured in purse-snatching
A robber wrestled a purse from a 66-year-old woman Oct. 26, dragging the victim on the ground during the theft in a mall parking lot, police reported.
The woman and her daughter were walking toward their car when the suspect ran up, snatched the purse and caused the victim to fall. The woman tried to hold onto the purse, but the thief pulled it away. The victim's daughter ran after the thief, who fled across the parking lot and escaped, according to police. At about 8:54 p.m., officers responded to the incident at 11110 Mall Circle in Waldorf, canvassed the area and processed the scene.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for an injury to her arm.

Man robbed of briefcase in Indian Head
Three men struck a victim and stole his briefcase Oct. 26 in Indian Head, according to police. The victim was walking in the area of South Hampton Drive and Jessica Court when the robbers ran up and hit him on the head. The victim briefly struggled with the assailants before they ran away with his briefcase. Officers responded to the area at about 7:58 p.m. and canvassed the area, and the victim was treated for a minor wound to his hand.

Stolen tools recovered in pawn shop arrest
Police arrested a Waldorf woman Oct. 26 as she was reportedly trying to pawn property she had just stolen from a shed, according to the sheriff's office.
At about 1:38 p.m., sheriff's officers went to the 10800 block of Willetts Crossing Road in White Plains, where the victim said a woman had broken into his shed and stolen tools and other equipment, police reported. The victim gave officers a description of the alleged thief and of her car, the report stated.
Officers searched the area and found the woman's car in front of a pawn shop on Middleport Lane, where she was allegedly trying to pawn the stolen property, according to police. Sheriff's officers also found stolen property and marijuana inside the woman's car, police reported.
Jamie Veronica Thomas, 39, of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with burglary, theft of less than $1,000, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Teen picks up handgun charge
Sheriff's officers were in the 8100 block of Leonardtown Road in Hughesville on Oct. 24 when they saw a group of people involved in what appeared to be a drug deal, according to police.
At about 8:24 p.m., the officers walked up to the males, some of whom were inside a car, and found a substance that was packaged like drugs but that later tested negative, police reported. In addition, officers allegedly found a handgun inside the car.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun.
Officer Gottschall made the arrest.
Newburg man charged with assault
Police charged a 39-year-old man with pointing a rifle at an acquaintance during an argument in Newburg on Oct. 24.
Sheriff's officers went to the 9800 block of Emerald Lane at about 2:40 a.m. in response to a call about an assault. Through an investigation, officers learned that James Donald Knott Jr., 39, had threatened the victim with the rifle, according to police.
Another person in the home disarmed Knott, who began fighting with the victim, according to police. Knott was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
A loaded .22-caliber rifle was recovered.
