Apology for photograph

As the captain and manager of the Chuggers ice hockey team, I would like to apologize for the photo that was submitted to the Maryland Independent following our championship victory.

The aim of the picture was to celebrate winning and being No. 1 in the league. That one of my team members chose to goof on the No. 1 theme escaped me and obviously the staff of the Independent.

In defense of the player, I have to say that spirits were extremely high following our unexpected win and that the "candid" picture was taken by a friend of the team.

At the time we did not know that it would be submitted to the local press.

I chose the picture myself and take full responsibility for not fully examining it prior to submission.
