Florence May Yow, 89, of Waldorf died Oct. 24, 2009, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton.
Mrs. Yow worked in retail sales for 20 years at Judy's Hallmark. She was a member of the Waldorf Seniors Club at the Jaycees center, and was a Bible study and Coffee Hour hostess at St. Paul's Church. She was an avid Washington Redskins fan, loved word search puzzles and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going out to dine with friends and collecting rag dolls.
Born Feb. 19, 1920, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Frank H. Wilds and the late Elizabeth Prusser Wilds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Yow II; daughter, Dolores May Myers; sister, Frances Sheirburn; and granddaughter, Donna Yow.
She is survived by her son, James A. Yow III of Virginia; grandchildren, Stephen Myers, Regina Williams, Mark Myers, Denise Hatcher; and great-grandchildren, Alex Myers, Josie Myers, Zachary Myers, Mark Myers, Ryleigh Williams, Brittany Hatcher, Charles Hatcher, John Hatcher and Katilin Hatcher.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 1 at Raymond Funeral Service chapel, La Plata. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 2 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Waldorf. The Rev. Joy Rose will officiate. Burial will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Myers, Alex Myers, Mike Williams, Steve Myers, Sammy Tayman and Johnny Sims.
