Emma McDonald, 97, of Washington, D.C., died Oct. 22, 2009, at home.
Born April 16, 1912, in Rockingham, N.C., she was the daughter of the late James and the late Lucy Reddick.
She was a member of the Church of God in Northwest Washington, D.C., where she organized a youth chorus and taught the Sunday school card class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Layton McDonald.
She is survived by her sons, Layton McDonald, Walter McDonald and Jasper McDonald; daughters, Sharon McDonald, Lillian Butler and Karliss McDonald-Smaw; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Oct. 31 at the Church of God, 2030 Georgia Ave., N.W. Washington, D.C. Burial will take place at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Hyattsville.
Arrangements are being handled by Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, Waldorf.
