William H. Waidman Sr., 85, California, Md.

William H. "Bill" Waidman Sr., 85, of California, Md., formerly of Forestville, died Oct. 27, 2009, at his residence.

He was born May 12, 1924.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946 and was discharged with the rank of corporal. He worked for the railroad as an assistant store keeper. He was a member of the sixth marine division association and belonged to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Lexington Park.

He moved to St. Mary's County in 1997.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Thelma (Chaney) Waidman; and a son, William H. Waidman Jr. who was killed in action in Vietnam.

He is survived by his son, Robert A. Waidman and his wife Regina; daughters, Susan M. Martin and her husband Davide, and Patricia A. Moskaits and her husband John; his loving companion, Dorothy M. Padgett; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 22375 Three Notch Road in Lexington Park with the Rev. Jack Kenealy officiating.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton.
