Agnes Clementine Savoy Lewis, 70, of Waldorf died Nov. 1, 2009, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton.

Born Feb. 4, 1939, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late John Richard Savoy and the late Agnes Lucille Savoy.

Better known as "Tee-Tee," she was the youngest of five children. She had one sister, Mary B. and three brothers, John "Lumpy," James "Weasel" and George "Big Butch." She talked with her siblings constantly.

She attended Bel Alton School and had jobs as a school bus driver, baby sitter and assisting anyone who was in need. She loved to help and meet people.

She and her husband, Evert Preston Lewis were married in 1976 and moved to Dahlgren, Va. She had a kindness for everyone. She would open her home and heart to anyone in need. Her smile, joking remarks and just being herself were radiant.

She had two daughters, Jessie and Katrina. She took care and raised many children who have become adults and have children.

She loved to play cards under the tree in the yard and sit and talk with her neighbors. Anybody who came around always knew there would be some food there, especially corn and rice pudding.

After being in Virginia for years, she and her husband moved to Waldorf.

She is survived by her husband, Evert Preston Lewis; daughters, Jessie Gurley and Katrina Jackson; son-in-law, Earl Gurley; grandchildren, Latory West and her husband, Reginald and James E. "A.J." Gurley Jr.; sister, Mary B.; brothers, John Savoy and his wife, Shena, James Savoy and his wife, Marthea and George Calvin Savoy and his wife, Cheryldale; uncles, William Bowman and George B. Savoy; godchild, Fabian Toye; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Nov. 6 at New Hope AME Church, Waldorf. Burial will take place at Thornton Funeral Home, Pomonkey.
