Douglas Irving Gardinier, 75, of Indian Head died Nov. 3, 2009, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata.
Mr. Gardinier was a truck driver for 50 years with Teamsters Local 639 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1957 to 1959. He loved boating and fishing and was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
Born Aug. 7, 1934, in New York, he was the son of the late Elton Gardinier and the late Harriet Blake Gardinier.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Alice Gardinier.
He is survived by his sons, Douglas W. "Rocky" Gardinier Sr. of White Plains, Mark Cummings of North Carolina and Michael Cummings; daughter, Charlene Cummings; companion, Beverly Williams of Indian Head; and grandsons, Douglas W. Gardinier Jr. and Michael B. Gardinier.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at Raymond Funeral Service, La Plata. The Rev. Tim Bean will officiate. Burial will take place at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood.
