A Lusby man who reportedly owed money to another man pulled a semi-automatic handgun and threatened the collector when he came to the borrower's home.
The borrower, William R. Charest, 29, of Lusby, who admitted to police that he did pull out a handgun, has been charged with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to Calvert County District Court papers.
When at Charest's Cattle Drive residence, Adam Coursey, 32, stated that Charest told him that he would pay him the money "when he felt like it" and told him to leave the property, charging documents state. Coursey told police that Charest pointed a small semi-automatic handgun at him and said, "I have something that will make you leave." Coursey said he quickly left the home and called the police.
According to the charging documents, Charest told police that Coursey had come to his residence and tried to gain entry after being told to leave the property. Charest admitted that he showed Coursey a handgun, but only after Coursey had tried to enter his residence.
Charest has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. in district court.
